We managed to squeeze in some urban exploring while we were over in Malta with a couple of abandoned Hotel complexes.
The first, White Rocks, was built as married quarters for the British army back in the 1960’s, and was converted to a holiday complex after the army departed.
It’s easy to get to and hard to miss, being right at the side of the main coastal road a few miles outside Pembroke.
The buses still stop at what was once the main entrance and there is a clear, unobstructed path into the complex.
There were a couple of locals milling about who we first mistook for security, but none of them seemed especially bothered by our presence and just let us get on with it.

The one other place we discovered was much further round the north coast on Mistra bay. We first spotted it on the return coach trip from Gozo and decided to return a few days later. This one was less open and required squeezing through a loosely padlocked gate. Unlike White Rocks, it seemed more likely to still be patrolled by security, so we didn’t stick around for long.
My camera was on the blink that day so I never took any photos, but here’s the set taken by my better half.
